Today’s choice was Parc national des Grands-Jardins. It was cloudy and raining, but that didn’t dampen our spirits. We chose an easy trail to get a feel for the place. As we started our hike, we felt like we were stepping into another world.
If the usual autumn attraction is looking up at the colourful maple trees, along the Boreal Trail, the ground was the attraction. It was like walking through a multi-coloured garden, with its beautiful mix of silvery-white lichens, pale greens, rusty reds, and earthy browns. Nature’s autumn palette wasn’t just up in the trees — it was right there beneath our feet!
As we trekked deeper into its seemingly endless wilderness, all we could hear was our own breathing and the thud of our hiking shoes on the ground. The fresh mountain air was soothing, and the views were so picturesque.
Let the photos do the talking.

Truly, as John Muir said “The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.”
