Ravenna was one of those places where the beauty is often found inside — in the colours, the details, and the extraordinary mosaics that have survived through the centuries. We came to Ravenna for the mosaics, and that was exactly where we spent our time — going from one church to another, discovering the incredible beauty hidden within their walls.

Made up of tiny pieces of coloured glass and stone, these mosaics tell stories of faith and history. Their intricate details and shimmering golden backgrounds were fascinating to see up close. Each church had something special to offer, and each visit gave us another reason to marvel at the artistry and craftsmanship of a time long past.

Here are our glimpses of Ravenna, one church at a time.

And of course, we had coffee time at Zeno Caffe & Cucina.

Some places impress you with their grand buildings, others with their history, and some simply make you stop and look.
