To kick off summer 2021 (actually, a few days before) we wanted to take the Muskoka Chairs Tour. This is a self guided tour looking for iconic Muskoka chairs along the lakes and rivers of Muskoka. There are supposedly 10 in the list and we only managed to find a few.
At the Bala Town dock, overlooking of course Lake Muskoka.
At the Moon River Lookout, still in Bala.
Then this at Port Carling, facing the famous Port Carling Wall.
We could have gone to the other places to find more chairs but between the towns of Bala and Port Carling, there were already a lot of things to see and do.
Taking a stroll along Bala’s main street, we found pretty artworks; a waterfalls and a scenic bridge.
The main street of Port Carling was fascinating with its shops and eateries. We even had ice cream at Mooskoka. But nothing beats the beauty of the Port Carling Wall. This 111-by-45-foot photo mosaic comprises of 9,028 pictures that together create the image of the RMS Sagamo passing through the Port Carling locks circa 1922. Viewed up close, however, each individual photo captures a moment of time in the lives of residents of Port Carling during the village’s first century (circa 1860-1960).
Discovering the towns of Bala and Port Carling was a good way to start summer.
