And so it was, a New Year’s eve away from home.

We had french fries and a sandwich lunch at Harry’s Handy Lunch at the heart of Newport, Rhode Island. Since it was a year end, there was no other restaurant open. Most of them were scheduled to open in the evening for NYE festivities. Harry’s Handy Lunch was not bad though. It was cheap, clean and fast.

We drove around Newport passing by Fort Adam which is actually a marina/boat launch and also took the Cliff Walk. We attempted to locate the Castlehill Lighthouse which unfortunately is already part of the Castlehill Inn – a world class dining place and inn.

We sat in our car listening to music looking at the big, wide ocean while parked at Brenton Point State Park.
Finally we crossed back to Jamestown and had dinner at the Wyndham Restaurant. (It was their last day of business, so we learned).
And we welcomed 2019 with these!

“In the New Year, never forget to thank to your past years because they enabled you to reach today! Without the stairs of the past, you cannot arrive at the future!” ~ Mehmet Ildan
