Since it was a Sunday, we started our day by going to church. There were a lot of things to be thankful for. The weather was cloudy earlier but later the sun came out after the church service. After which, we decided to go to the summit of the famous Mt. Washington via the legendary Mt. Washington Auto Road. As always, there were the unplanned stops for the “twosomewanderers” – to take photos of scenic views and “selfies” included.

Located just 25 minutes north of North Conway, NH on scenic NH Route 16, the Mt. Washington Auto Road’s unique location in Pinkham Notch provides spectacular views into the Great Gulf Wilderness and the Presidential Mountain Range as you drive yourself or take a guided tour to the summit of Mt Washington.

To venture to get to the top of Mt. Washington, which was at elevation 6228 ft., it was a nail-biting experience for us being first timers. The road in going up was narrow, wet, tricky and treacherous. It was not for the unskilled and weak-hearted drivers. Moreso, visibility was near zero due to the fog.

This scenery left us in awe. It can be seen on the face of the beholder. The bright, attractive colors of the autumn’s foliage on this terrain was an attraction to motorists. One could not resist the strong temptation but make a pull over to take photos. What made the landscape unique was the rolling surface that made the foliage looked like a huge colorful quilted blanket.

The view is simply spectacular. One has to stop and pullover to enjoy it.

This is the breathtaking view at the scenic viewing station in North Conway, NH.

The road in going up is very narrow, tricky and treacherous. To drive through it is one hell of an experience.

We made it to the top! Elevation 6822 feet.

It wasn’t Halloween yet but this one’s something for Guinness Book of World Records.

Visibility at the summit was almost zero.

Happy adventurers – the twosomewanderers.

These people are real trekkers battling extreme weather conditions. Silhouette of people in the background trying to get a photo of the peak of Mt. Washington.

No need to line up… a selfie would be enough proof that we ventured to the top.

An obligatory pose for these two adventurers.

Reaching the peak of Mt. Washington is something that will be forever remembered.
