As a last hurrah before hubby returns to work we visited the Alton Mills Art Centre in Alton (1402 Queen St. West, Alton, ON). The renovated mill is along Shaw’s Creek and has galleries, a heritage museum, a cafe and a gift shop.

Outside the mills was a trail, a pond and some sculptures.

My apologies, in our haste I forgot to take note of the artists for these works.

We were lucky to chance upon and have a lengthy conversation with one of the mill’s artists – Janet Sweet. Also spoke with Lynden Cowan of SOVA (Southern Ontario Visual Artists). It was a short visit to truly appreciate or even just to enjoy the artworks displayed  in the mill.  All we can say is “we have to come back here”.

The Alton Mills Art Centre  is just around 1 hour from Toronto.
