In March 2013 we chanced upon Cafe Mocha in Port Perry. Over the years we visited Port Perry several times but unfortunately Cafe Mocha was closed. I even thought the shop has closed.

Monday we went back to Port Perry for a post Valentine date and a Family Day treat. And YAY! Cafe Mocha was open. There was no other choice but this place to have a snack. Hubby however wanted something more filling. We ended up going to Pickles and Olives Bistro – which was right beside Cafe Mocha. In fact, Cafe Mocha and Pickles and Olives is the same food place just “divided” in the middle. Cafe Mocha for cakes/coffee, Pickles and Olives for sandwiches, lunch and dinner. What luck! (despite the still frozen Lake Scugog).

Pickles and Olives did not disappoint either. First we tried the Philly Cheese Steak – which hubby and I shared. We wanted to leave some room for the cheesecake. But then after having the sandwich and the cheesecake we thought we were still hungry and ordered Turkey on Brie. (Talk about over indulgence!). Anyway, the second sandwich was equally delectable.

Port Perry is just under an hour’s drive from Scarborough. But with Pickles and Olives and Cafe Mocha the drive is worth it. (Both places are closed on Sunday except Mother’s Day).
