Today is the Cog Railway day. Unfortunately, the management provided advance notice that the trains are not travelling to the top of Mt. Washington due to some mechanical problems. Kudos to the Cog Railway staff who tried their best to make the half-way trip still a pleasant experience. It was cloudy around the Mt. Washington area making the train ride more gloomy.
But the day was not at all ruined. For one, we were able to check out 3 beautiful covered bridges.
The Saco River covered bridge built in 1890, spanning the Saco River and is 224 ft. long.
The Swift River covered bridge, built in 1991 at 128 ft long.
The Albany covered bridge, built in 1858 with a span of 100 ft. This bridge spans the Swift River.
The awesome view at Crawford Notch also made up for the Cog Railway jam.
Before heading back to Eastern Slope Inn, we stopped again at the Wiley House viewing station and a roadway waterfall.
There is nothing for to ask on such a beautiful day at the White Mountain National Forest.
