Wandering around Peterborough and Haliburton area in Ontario with friends on a nice autumn day. Peterborough is around 2 hours drive from Toronto and Haliburton is further 1.75 hours. But when you are with friends, time does not matter.
The colorful hiway 35.
Dropping by the Peterborough Liftlock, Lock 21 in the Trent-Severn Waterway.
The lock was Designated a National Historic Site in 1979. For most of its life, the lock’s dual lifts were the highest hydraulic boat lifts in the world, raising boats 65 ft (20 m). This was a considerable accomplishment in the first years of the 20th century, when conventional locks usually only had a 7 ft (2.1 m) rise.
A little hiking at the Haliburton Sculpture Forest.
The Haliburton Sculpture Forest is a unique outdoor collection of sculptures located in Glebe Park.
Since its inception in 2001, the forest has amassed 36 sculptures by Canadian and international artists. Then the beautiful view across Baked and Battered, my favorite Haliburton café.
‘Twas a relaxing day with friends.
