Since it was a Sunday, we started our day by going to church. There were a lot of things to be thankful for. The weather was cloudy earlier but later the sun came out after the church service. After which, we decided to go to the summit of the famous Mt. Washington via the legendary Mt. Washington Auto Road. As always, there were the unplanned stops for the “twosomewanderers” – to take photos of scenic views and “selfies” included.

Located just 25 minutes north of North Conway, NH on scenic NH Route 16, the Mt. Washington Auto Road’s unique location in Pinkham Notch provides spectacular views into the Great Gulf Wilderness and the Presidential Mountain Range as you drive yourself or take a guided tour to the summit of Mt Washington.
To venture to get to the top of Mt. Washington, which was at elevation 6228 ft., it was a nail-biting experience for us being first timers. The road in going up was narrow, wet, tricky and treacherous. It was not for the unskilled and weak-hearted drivers. Moreso, visibility was near zero due to the fog.

This scenery left us in awe. It can be seen on the face of the beholder. The bright, attractive colors of the autumn’s foliage on this terrain was an attraction to motorists. One could not resist the strong temptation but make a pull over to take photos. What made the landscape unique was the rolling surface that made the foliage looked like a huge colorful quilted blanket.

The road in going up is very narrow, tricky and treacherous. To drive through it is one hell of an experience.
