Prince Edward Island is known for its red-sand beaches, lighthouses, fertile farmland, lobsters and mussels. In one word – Heaven. But first things first. The island has 63 lighthouses with 37 still active. We stayed at PEI for 3 nights and 3 days and most of the time (if we were not having lobsters and mussels) we were hunting lighthouses!
Cape Tyron Lighthouse. To get to this location we had to drive through a very narrow, rugged, uncemented road and be lost for a while.
North Rustico Lighthouse. Still active and serving the rustic town of North Rustico. Across this lighthouse is where we had the most yummy lobster dip – at Blue Mussels Cafe.
Covehead Harbour Lighthouse. This was an easy find inside the National Park. Before getting to this lighthouse however, 2 foxes greeted us. They were crossing the street and “posing” for us.
Wrights Range Lighthouse at Victoria by the Sea.Lovely at dusk.
London Bay Lighthouse – no access.
Point Prim Lighthouse. Perched on the outer-most tip of the peninsula, is not only the Island`s oldest lighthouse but also the only circular brick lighthouse in Canada.
