Visiting Quebec on the Labor Day weekend was another one of those spontaneous short trips we recently had. This time the Gonzales couple joined us.
Where We Stayed : Quality Hotel in Montreal and Howard Johnson in Quebec
Places we Detoured : Lavaltrie and Saint Sulpice along Hiway 8. Then a longer stop-over at Trois-Rivieres visiting the Our Lady of the Cape Basilica and strolling the harborfront. Also visited the Shrine of St. Anne de Beaupre in Quebec City.
At the Shrine of Ste Anne de Beaupre.
The Gonzales at the Our Lady of the Cape, Trois-Rivieres.
Where We Ate : Lunch at Faste Fou, Trois-Rivieres. In Quebec, dinner at Scores to celebrate a birthday (which we almost forgot!). On going home lunch was at Casseau Du Fort in Coteau Du Lac . Final ice cream at Gananoque.
Ice-cream at Creme Glace while people watching. (Trois-Rivieres)
Yummy appetizer at Bistro 1640 before the food tour.
Something new we discovered : Finally got to enjoy the city of Trois-Rivieres. We have often passed by this place to visit the Basilica but this time we spared time to enjoy the city.
Something we tried : Our first time to join a food tour and we sure will do it again! Click here for the food tour post.
To keep in mind for next time : The long stretch of Hiway 8 has a “garage/street sale” on this Labor Day weekend. If one wants to do some “antique or second hand shopping” – this is the place to be. Also on this same weekend, Trois-Rivieres holds its last of the summer festival at the harborfront with entertainers and artisans.
Downer : Heavy rain in going home.
