We drove back to Collingwood after that filling lunch at Maiolo’s in Thornbury to attend the Monday Night Wine and Cheese party at The Bear Estate, Living Water Resort. As usual, there was plenty of wine, people, and cheese. They also had brie and jam on crackers and mussels.
View at The Bear Estate.
It was drizzling after the party yet we discovered the resort’s rooftop with a beautiful view of Collingwood.
Breakfast on Aug 8 was at Cranberry Resort. Was told the breakfast buffet was on all summer. (Good info). Checked out the resort’s Recreation Centre and the Gold Course afterwards.
Strolled Hurontario Street for Collingwood’s Art on the Street but the pianos and the chairs did not impress much. Was disappointed since these chairs and pianos were my reason for coming to Collingwood in the first place. I guess the giant chairs in Vermont and the beautiful pianos in Cobourg set my high standards.
Saw a garden at the centre of the city and met Robert Patterson who owns The Growing Connection and was tending the garden. Anyone can pick produce if they want, meanwhile Robert was actually selling his caja pots. Robert gave me some mint leaves and peppers guaranteed to be really spicy. I am planning to get one caja planter actually. Read more about The Growing Connection here.
Time to head home but passed by Creemore for a quick “review” of the place. Had coffee and cake at Affairs Bakery.
Drove towards Barrie and lingered at Barrie’s harbourfront for a while.
Drove southeast ending at Innisfil Beach area where the parking fee was $5 for an hour!! Not my kind of parking fee. Left area and headed towards Toronto initially planning to pass by Newmarket. As we took much time on the road already, decided to head home.
Capped the day with some practice driving at Scarborough Family Golf Centre for a basket of balls.
Short trip taken on the August holiday weekend : Aug 7-8, 2017
