After passing by Trois-Riveries where the Lady of the Cape Shrine is, we took Chemin Du Roy. Chemin du Roy (aka King’s Way) stretches from Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures to Grondines in the Portneuf region, was the first road suitable for vehicles to be built between Québec City and Montréal.

This road is not only beautiful but also has history behind it. For a century and a half, the Chemin du Roy would convey mail and travellers by chaise, stagecoach, mail coach and sleigh in winter. The chemin du Roy is the land-based counterpart of the St. Lawrence River. Its paves the way of history in Québec along its entire length, nestled amid beautiful scenery and fascinating heritage sites. The chemin du Roy remains a living memorial to New France in the 21st Century.

We have passed this highway before but it was so cold then – I appreciated the beauty but did not dare go down to take photos. This time, we stopped at some spots to enjoy its charm.

An abandoned couch can still be inviting.

An abandoned couch no more.

eglise Notre Dame de la Visitation

 3 steeples

Park your car, bike or wooden motorbike here (if you have one).

My only regret is not taking notes of where we parked and took these photos. But surely along Chemin du Roy are plenty of sights for the photographer’s eye.
