After the Christmas holiday and family bonding, time to drive around for some fresh air. The clouds were grey and the traffic was terrible on the 401, thus destination had to be changed. Took a turn at White Feather Country Store (15 Raglan Rd. East, Oshawa) and was pleasantly surprised at this rural store. Filled with so much goodies and even non food goodies.
After filling our basket and paid, off we proceeded with no more destination in mind. An hour later, we found ourselves in Millbrook, Ontario. We don’t think we’ve been here before!
Millbrook has more than 45 designated historic buildings and once you are in the main street you will notice the absence of overhead wires making the whole place an ideal film location. In fact, several movies had been filmed in Millbrook. All this information I found out after we left the place and googled.
After a short walk, we had food at the Pastry Peddler (17 King St., Millbrook), where food was filling and delicious. In our excitement, we forgot to take a photo of what we had until half a soup and sandwich later.
Original artworks line the walls of the cafe.
A mural of Millbrook’s original and long gone train station.
Needler’s Mill – one of at least 20 mills in the area around the 1890’s.For such a small place, there is a lot of history in Millbrook.
