I have long been interested to see the artworks in Buffalo’s subway. We recently joined an inexpensive tour that took us to the stations and showed us the often overlooked but unique artworks along of Buffalo’s subway.

Amherst station with the 3D like Brick Relief design by Aleksandra Kasuba, NYC.

Summer-Best station with sculptures by George Sugarman, NYC.

At the Humboldt/Hospital station featuring black/white photographs of Note Rogovin.

Humboldt/Hospital station with venetian cut glass mosaic tiles by New Yorker Joyce Kozloff.

Sculpture at Delavan/Canisius College Station.

Summer-Best station with sculptures by George Sugarman, NYC. (They are actually chairs.)

Allen/Medical Campus station with powder coated steel sculpture of Shasti O’Leary titled “Gut Flora”.

Delavan/Canisius College Station with ceramic tile mural by George Woodman, NYC.

Humboldt/Hospital station with venetian cut glass mosaic tiles by New Yorker Joyce Kozloff.

Amherst station with mural by Ray Hassard.

Just a side note : A real-life subway art titled “A Lonely Wait”.

Each artwork has its own story and reason for being on a particular station. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the subject making the 3 hour tour seem short.  To learn more about schedules, please click here.
